Over the years, we have showcased their innovations with the hope of inspiring our readers to greater heights. Dr. Joseph Kerski joins us for our successful series of interviews, GeoInspirations. He is interviewing some of those men and women who have changed the face of our industry, shining a light on the importance of geography and geospatial technology. We hope that you’re inspired to make a difference with geography in your corner of the world.

This episode of GeoInspirations features Harold Schuch, owner of and consultant with GeoCounsel, Inc.  Learn about Harold’s work, his journey, and his vision for the future. Dr. Kerski shares, “I have been aware of Harold’s activities for many years. He is a multi-national consultant who speaks six languages and has done business in sixteen countries, mostly in relation to GIS implementation. He has a degree in Geodetic Sciences from Ryerson University and a master’s in Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing from the University of Washington. He holds a Professional Engineer license (in Civil which is active) and is a Certified Photogrammetrist. His long-term engagement in geomatics is evidenced by the Award for Excellence in Exporting he received in 1985 from then Colorado Governor Richard Lamm.  Besides running his GeoCounsel consultancy, Harold is lecturer at the University of Colorado – Denver in “Surveying for Construction and Engineering”. He discovered that most people engaging in GIS would benefit from an introduction to basic mapping concepts, something that complements operational GIS training well.  I believe that Harold’s story is a fascinating one for those listening to the podcast—and for people to share with others!”
