World Water Day is this Friday, March 22nd! To celebrate we’re talking water all week – sharing maps & apps about H2O. You’ve heard of carbon footprints, but what about water footprints?

3-3d waterprint appWaterprint is a one-of-a-kind iPhone application that calculates how much water is imbedded in your daily activities, including what you wear, eat and drink. This application even includes a Waterprint calculator that quickly and easily tells you how much water it takes to grow a banana, manufacture a Tshirt, or brush your teeth.

This application is the first of its kind, and they continue to add more items to the waterprint list and more detailed information regarding exactly how a water footprint is calculated.

They’ve designed this application with a clear, easy-to-use interface. The application is simple to navigate, and at every step of the way they’ve provided the links and other resources so that you can track down exactly where those waterprint totals come from and how you can reduce your own water footprint.”

We live in a society addicted to technology. More smartphones are being used in the classroom and in our offices every day. To help you leverage the technology available to you, we explore, try and share links to apps that can help you and your students.

Every week we select a new app and share its description in our “Apps We Love” column. We do not endorse devices from any one company or receive any kind of compensation for these features. We just share links to apps that can help you teach, learn, work and grow.
