01 roadmapThis month kicked off with National Read a Road Map Week! In this day & age it’s so easy to look up directions in a phone or program them into a GPS, reading a road map is more of an art to kids these days than an essential skill.

I may be dating myself here, but I grew up with my parents asking me to get out the Mapsco and map out the best route to wherever we were going. They sat there with me, answered questions and taught me everything I needed to know.

Make sure your kids and students can still read an authentic, honest-to-goodness paper road map. Leave your electronics at home *horrors*, toss an atlas in your car, and enjoy the possibility of discovering your world off the beaten path.
