GIS Day was created as an initiative for people around the world to learn more about GIS. The Wednesday of every Geography Awareness Week is GIS Day and is dedicated to demonstrating how GIS impacts our lives.
To learn more about the history of GIS Day, you can visit their site. We shared the map from the fabulous interactive map they have on their website. Each marker denotes a GIS Day event…it’s awe inspiring how much GIS awareness has grown!
Our friend, Pam Kersh from Esri Dallas, sent us an eclectic set of links to a collection of diverse GIS maps and data that are just an example of how effective, interactive and even sometimes hilarious GIS can be.
