Organization Purpose
GISetc: Educational Technology Consultants is a multi-faceted education based company that provides learning opportunities in the use of the newest geospatial learning technologies especially geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, and global positioning systems (GPS) for both teachers and students in the 21st century learning environment.

Organization History
GISetc started in January 1999 providing two-day GIS workshops for teachers. In August 2000, we held our first week-long GIS institute for educators with teachers from nine states attending. Since then, the company has offered one or two GIS institutes of at least one week in duration with participants coming from the United States, Canada, England, and New Zealand. GISetc has developed a training model that is effective for beginning through advanced users of computer technology in general and geospatial technologies in particular. In addition to summer institutes, GISetc offers customized professional development opportunities for K-16 throughout the year through school districts and colleges of education.

Mission Statement
The mission of GISetc is to provide cutting-edge GIS professional development, curriculum and software support to K-12 and post-secondary educators and their students. Our goal is to advance education by using geospatial technologies as tools to High quality and content based curriculum, provides authentic teacher research/learning projects Provide teacher training in a research like atmosphere of discover and skill development.

Roger PalmerRoger Palmer teaches high school chemistry, physics, and environmental/field science at Bishop Dunne High School in Dallas, Texas. He has been involved with a NASA initiative in the upper mid-west that uses NASA generated imagery to teach math, science, and geography to K-12 students. He holds an M.S. in Chemistry and conducts research with students in the use of GIS to model integrated approaches to environmental problems.
Anita PalmerAnita Palmer was a high school technology teacher who most recently taught GIS and AutoCad in Carson City, NV. She has authored and taught numerous technology classes for K-12 teachers focusing on integration of GIS technologies throughout the curriculum. She is one of the three authors of the first GIS curriculum book for the 6-12th grade world geography classroom as well as a new community based GIS book. She is completing her M.S. in geography with an emphasis on GIS in education.
